Grant Associates to present at Bath’s Therapeutic City Festival

Andrew Grant, founder of Grant Associates, is among a line-up of speakers who will present at the Therapeutic City Festival in Bath, taking place 20-27 September 2019.

The festival will include a mix of walks, talks and activities in and around the city that aim to tackle the question: How can we make a city that is good for our body, mind and soul?

Bath’s past and future as a ‘therapeutic city’ will be discussed alongside questions including: What should a 21st century spa city be like? Does the whole city still have therapeutic value? Can a city provide antidotes to the stress and pollution normally associated with urban environments?

Organised by Architecture Is, the festival is being staged as the city awaits the outcome of its application to UNESCO to be recognised as one of the Great Spas of Europe (decision is expected in 2020).

Festival highlights include:

  • Friday 20 September: Therapeutic City, 6-8pm at The Guildhall – An event looking at the past, present and future of Bath as a therapeutic city. Speakers include Historic England, the National Trust, University of Bath and Grant Associates.

  • Saturday 21-Sunday 22 September: Healthy Living, Healthy City Weekend – A weekend of healthy and creative activities, explorations and exercise, including the ‘Love Milsom Street’ car-free weekend.

  • Monday 23 – Wednesday 25 September: Café salons 6-8pm – The festival aims to take over some of the city’s cafés for lively debates where residents and professionals can discuss how to shape a therapeutic and healthy city.

  • Friday 27 September: Therapeutic City Conference, 9am–5pm at The Apex Hotel – This conference will bring together policymakers, designers and developers to explore how to create a city that promotes and supports wellbeing.
